Given: thickness t=4 cm=4×10⁻² m, refractive index n=1.5.
Idea: light slows down inside the slab to v=c/n, and the transit time is the thickness divided by that speed.
v=(3×10⁸)/(1.5)=2×10⁸ m s⁻¹.
Transit time =t/v=(4×10⁻²)/(2×10⁸).
So the light takes 2×10⁻¹⁰ s to cross the slab.
