Asked in GUJCET 2024 · Nuclear radius and density
Given: A=1 for ¹₁H (a single proton) and A=27 for ²⁷₁₃Al.
Idea: R=R₀A^1/3, so a ratio of radii is the cube root of the ratio of the mass numbers.
(RH)/(RAl)=(1/(27))^1/3=1/3.
So the radii are in the ratio 1:3 — the aluminium nucleus is three times the radius of the proton, though it has 27 times its nucleons.
