For a given electromagnetic wave the magnitude of electric field is 6.6 V m⁻¹ at a point in space. The magnitude of magnetic field at this point is ______ T.

Asked in GSEB Board March 2023 · Writing B from E, and E from B

Answer: (4) 2.2×10⁻⁸

Step-by-step solution

Given: E=6.6 V m⁻¹ at that point.

Idea: at every point and every instant in an electromagnetic wave the two fields are tied by E=cB, not just their amplitudes.

B=E/c=(6.6)/(3×10⁸)=2.2×10⁻⁸ T.

So the magnetic field there is 2.2×10⁻⁸ T.
