Asked in GSEB Board August 2020 · Writing B from E, and E from B
Given: E = 6.3 V m⁻¹ along ̂j, wave travelling along +x in free space, u = 24 MHz.
Idea: the magnitudes obey B = E/c, and ⃗E, ⃗B and the direction of travel form a right-handed set with ̂E×̂B along the direction of travel.
Magnitude: B = (6.3)/(3×10⁸) = 2.1×10⁻⁸ T.
Direction: we need ̂j×̂B along ̂i, and ̂j×̂k = ̂i, so ⃗B lies along +̂k.
So ⃗B = 2.1×10⁻⁸ ̂k T, and the frequency is not needed.
