A radio can tune into any station in the 6 MHz to 12 MHz band. What is the corresponding wavelength band? (c=3×10⁸ m s⁻¹)

Asked in GUJCET 2022 · Wavelength, frequency and photon energy

Answer: (2) 25 m to 50 m

Step-by-step solution

Given: u₁=6 MHz=6×10⁶ Hz and u₂=12 MHz=12×10⁶ Hz.

Idea: λ=c/u, so the highest frequency of the band gives its shortest wavelength.

λ₁=(3×10⁸)/(6×10⁶)=50 m.

λ₂=(3×10⁸)/(12×10⁶)=25 m.

So the set tunes over the band 25 m to 50 m.
