In practice, for a step-up transformer the current in the primary is I_P and the current in the secondary is I_S; their respective voltages are V_P and V_S. Then,

Answer: (3) I_SV_S<I_PV_P

Step-by-step solution

Idea: I_PV_P is the power fed into the primary and I_SV_S is the power delivered by the secondary.

In an ideal transformer no energy is lost, so I_SV_S=I_PV_P.

In practice energy is lost as heat in the copper windings (I²R), in the iron core (eddy currents and hysteresis) and through flux leakage.

So the output power is less than the input power: I_SV_S<I_PV_P.
