The current flowing through a conductor connected across a source is 2 A and 1.2 A at 0°C and 100°C respectively. The current flowing through the conductor at 50°C will be ______ ×10² mA.

Asked in JEE Main 12th April 1st Shift 2023 · Temperature dependence of resistance

Answer: 15

Step-by-step solution

Same source, so R∝1/I: R₀=V/2 and R₁₀₀=V/(1.2).

R₁₀₀=R₀(1+100α) gives 1+100α=2/(1.2)=5/3, so α=1/(150) °C⁻¹.

R₅₀=R₀(1+(50)/(150))=4/3R₀.

I₅₀=2/(4/3)=1.5 A=15×10² mA.
