Given: the self inductance L of a coil.
Idea: use the emf it induces in itself, ε=-L(dI)/(dt), so L=ε/(dI/dt).
[ε]=M¹L²T⁻³A⁻¹ and [(dI)/(dt)]=A¹T⁻¹.
[L]=(M¹L²T⁻³A⁻¹)/(A¹T⁻¹)=M¹L²T⁻²A⁻².
So self inductance has the dimensions M¹L²T⁻²A⁻²: one henry is one volt second per ampere.
