A pair of adjacent coils has a mutual inductance of 1.5 H. If the current in one coil changes from 0 to 10 A in 0.5 s, what is the change of flux linkage with the other coil?

Asked in GUJCET 2022 · Mutual inductance and induced EMF

Answer: (3) 15 Wb

Step-by-step solution

Given: M=1.5 H, Δ I=10-0=10 A, Δ t=0.5 s.

Idea: N₂Φ₂=MI₁, so the change of flux linkage is M Δ I₁; the time does not enter.

Δ(N₂Φ₂)=1.5×10.

So the change of flux linkage is 15 Wb. (The average emf would be (15)/(0.5)=30 V.)
