Given: area of the tilted plane A = 1 cm² = 10⁻⁴ m², I = 2 A; the normal to the plane makes 30° with the current (figure).
Idea: current density is current per unit area measured perpendicular to the flow. The true cross-section is the projection of the tilted plane, A_⊥ = A cos 30°.
A_⊥ = 10⁻⁴×(√3)/2 m².
J = I/(A_⊥) = 2/(10⁻⁴×√3/2) = 4/(√3)×10⁴ A m⁻² ≈ 2.31×10⁴ A m⁻².
So the current density at P is 4/(√3)×10⁴ A m⁻².
