According to Ohm's law, R=V/I. As the current flowing through a conductor increases, the resistance of the conductor ______.

Asked in GSEB Board March 2020 · Ohm's law and resistivity

Answer: (3) Remains constant

Step-by-step solution

Idea: resistance is a property of the conductor itself, R=ρL/A, set by its material, length, cross-section and temperature.

Ohm's law: at constant temperature V∝ I.

If the current doubles, it is because the potential difference has doubled, so V/I stays the same.

R=V/I is how the resistance is measured, not what sets it.

So the resistance remains constant.
