Given: C=50 μF=50×10⁻⁶ F, Vᵣₘₛ=110 V, f=60 Hz.
Idea: a capacitor limits a.c. through its reactance X_C=1/(2π fC), and Iᵣₘₛ=(Vᵣₘₛ)/(X_C).
X_C=1/(2π×60×50×10⁻⁶)=53.1 Ω.
Iᵣₘₛ=(110)/(53.1)=2.07 A≈2.1 A.
So the rms current is 2.1 A.
