Five capacitors of capacitances C₁=C₂=C₃=C₄=10 μF and C₅=2.5 μF are connected as shown, along with a battery of 50 V. The equivalent capacitance and the charges on each capacitor respectively are:

Figure: Capacitor networks
Answer: (4) 5 μF, 125 μC on all capacitors

Step-by-step solution

C₁, C₂, C₃, C₄ form one chain in series: (10)/4=2.5 μF.

That chain and C₅ are both connected straight across the battery, so they are in parallel: C_eq=2.5+2.5=5 μF.

Each branch has 50 V across it. Chain: Q=2.5×50=125 μC, the same on each of C₁ to C₄ in series.

C₅: Q=2.5×50=125 μC. So every capacitor holds 125 μC.
