The total charge induced in a conducting loop when it is moved in a magnetic field depends on

Asked in NEET 1992 · Induced charge

Answer: (3) the total change in magnetic flux

Step-by-step solution

i=ε/R=1/R(dφ)/(dt), so

q=∫ i dt=1/R∫ dφ=(Δφ)/R.

The time drops out of the integral entirely.

Move the loop quickly and you get a large current for a short time; move it slowly and you get a

small current for a long time, and the charge that flows is the same in both cases, fixed by the

total change in flux.
