As a result of a change in the magnetic flux linked to a closed loop, an emf of V volt is induced in the loop. The work done in taking a charge Q coulomb once around the loop is

Asked in NEET 2005 · Induced electric field

Answer: (1) QV

Step-by-step solution

An emf is defined as the work done per unit charge in taking a charge once round the circuit:

V=W/Q.

So W=QV.

It is worth noticing why this is not zero. The electric field induced by a changing magnetic flux

is not conservative: its line integral round a closed path is exactly the emf, not zero, which is

what Faraday's law says. A static electric field would give zero here.
