An insulated copper wire of 100 turns is wrapped around a wooden cylindrical core of cross-sectional area 24 cm². The two ends of the wire are connected to a resistor. The total resistance is 12 Ω. If an externally applied uniform magnetic field along the axis changes from 1.5 T in one direction to 1.5 T in the opposite direction, the charge flowing through a point in the circuit will be _____ mC.

Asked in JEE Main 13th April 2nd Shift 2023 · Induced charge

Answer: 60

Step-by-step solution

The field reverses, so Δ B=1.5-(-1.5)=3 T.

ΔΦₜₒₜₐₗ=N AΔ B=100×24×10⁻⁴×3=0.72 Wb.

q=(0.72)/(12)=0.06 C =60 mC.
