A simple harmonic oscillator has an amplitude A and time period 6π s. Assuming the oscillation starts from its mean position, the time required by it to travel from x=A to x=(√3)/2A will be π/x s, where x= ______.

Answer: 2

Step-by-step solution

ω=(2π)/(6π)=1/3 rad s⁻¹, and from the mean position x=A sin ω t.

x=A at ω t=π/2, i.e. t=(3π)/2; x=(√3)/2A at ω t=π/3, i.e. t=π.

The interval is (3π)/2-π=π/2 s, so x=2.
