Given: depth d=4.5 m, n=4/3, c=3×10⁸ m s⁻¹.
Idea: light slows to v=c/n once it is inside the water, and the time is the depth divided by that speed.
v=(3×10⁸)/(4/3)=2.25×10⁸ m s⁻¹
t=(4.5)/(2.25×10⁸)=2×10⁻⁸ s
Since 1 ns=10⁻⁹ s, this is 20 ns.
