Idea: the Meissner effect is the complete expulsion of a magnetic field from the interior of a material when it is cooled below its critical temperature.
Surface currents that flow without resistance set up a field inside which cancels the applied one exactly, leaving B=0 throughout the bulk.
Only superconductors do this, and it is one of the two defining properties of superconductivity, alongside zero resistance.
In terms of susceptibility, B=0 inside means χ=-1 and μᵣ=0: a perfect diamagnet.
So the Meissner effect is observed in superconducting substances.
