A circular coil of wire consisting of 100 turns, each of radius 2 cm, carries a current of 0.20 A. The magnetic field at the centre of the coil is ______ T.

Asked in GSEB Board March 2020 · Rotating charges and multiple loops

Answer: (2) 2π×10⁻⁴

Step-by-step solution

Given: N=100 turns, R=2 cm=0.02 m, I=0.20 A.

Idea: at the centre of a circular coil the N turns add up, B=(μ₀NI)/(2R).

B=(4π×10⁻⁷×100×0.20)/(2×0.02).

Numerator =8π×10⁻⁶, denominator =0.04.

B=2π×10⁻⁴ T, about 6.28×10⁻⁴ T.
