Idea: ultraviolet begins where the eye gives up, just beyond violet, and ends where X-rays begin.
Violet light reaches down to about 400 nm, so that is the long-wavelength edge of the ultraviolet band.
From there it runs down to about 1.0 nm; below that the radiation is called X-rays.
So ultraviolet covers 400 nm to 1.0 nm.
