Idea: when a metal plate or coil moves in a magnetic field, the flux through small loops inside the metal keeps changing.
This induces closed loops of current in the bulk of the metal — eddy currents.
By Lenz's law these currents oppose the motion that produces them, so the moving part is slowed down.
This is electromagnetic damping, used in moving-coil galvanometers and in electromagnetic brakes.
So electromagnetic damping is due to eddy currents.
