Given: atoms raised from n=1 to n=4.
Idea: with many atoms, every downward jump between any two of the levels 4,3,2,1 occurs, and each jump gives its own line.
Number of lines =(n(n-1))/2=(4×3)/2=6.
They are 4→3, 4→2, 4→1, 3→2, 3→1 and 2→1.
